If you are looking for a therapist for your child, please note that I encourage and invite parent participation in family sessions throughout treatment, in order to address systemic issues impacting your teen and family. It is also imperative that your child have an opportunity to have full trust in me knowing that therapy is a safe place and that our sessions are completely private. There are limits to confidentiality having to do with safety (and their safety will always be my first priority), but your child will be in charge and informed of any information disclosed between us regarding their life or their treatment.
With that said, I do find it important to get to know you as their parent(s) and I prioritize having the first session together without your child present. This gives you an opportunity to give me the “uncensored” scoop about what concerns or goals you have for your child, to ask me any questions, and tell me your family’s story so that I can better understand how I can help your child.
If you have a child who is unwilling to participate in therapy, or who is already seeing a therapist, I provide coaching sessions specifically for parents.
Some of the most common issues I work on with Teens are:
Communication Skills
Family Conflict
Religious and Spiritual Exploration
Academic or Athletic Pressures
Future Goals for School/Career
Self Esteem and Confidence Building
Eating Disorders and Body Image
Identity Exploration and Formation
Peer Relationships
